Sunrise over False Bay at Bonamanzi Game Reserve this morning. Intaba students getting ready to track elephant's 👣 so that the Reserve could fit a new tracking collar on the matriarch.
The whitish tip of the mother leopard's tail is held upright during forays on the ground. This erect tail posture is thought to provide the cubs with an eye-level visual marker, helping them follow their mother through the tall grasses and shrubs.

They are unusual also in that they allow the youngest in the pack priority access at a kill – a social behaviour not practised by any other large carnivore. They show little or no fear of man and will tolerate vehicles and safari participants, even on foot, at close quarters.
After some light rain last night, we woke up to overcast conditions,which quickly opened up to a beautiful sunrise. And our apprentice field guides could continue with their interpretation of the sand forest ecosystem on Kuleni Game Park.
